Mr. Simmons
is a Florida native educated in the Dade County School system at Miami Northwestern Senior High and Miami Dade College. He was born in Miami's Liberty City and currently resides in Miami with his wife Diann. He is a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic
Church and the son of a William and Gloria Simmons both decease and
is the oldest of three children.
He pursued a career with
Florida Power and Light Company for many years where he specializes
in Electrical Metering and Technology before retiring. He also
served in the military during the Viet Nam
era in Southeast Asia with 101st Airborne
Division.
He has been a member of
the 100 Black Men of South Florida for over ten years and currently serves as
Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is an active committee member and mentor
with the One Hundreds signature program the Leadership Academy
designed to become a part of our
community's civic infrastructure by rendering youth intervention and prevention
services.
Mr. Simmons is also a
member of the National Brotherhood of Skiers. Along with winter sports he has
had a passion for photography all of his adult life.
