The 100 Black Men of South Florida Inc. have
sponsored an annual Christmas Shopping Spree since 1989.
The 100 works with other community based organizations
to identify economically disadvantaged elementary school
aged young people. These young people are provided with
a budget and allowed to shop for themselves and their families.
The
programs primary objective is to bring joy into the
lives of young people for the holidays. Its second
goal is to install in each of the young people that
life is a series of decisions and trade-offs made
within the constraints of limited resources. The
100 has collaborated our
community partners to identify the young people. As
of 1997, when this initiative began, the 100 Black
Men of South Florida has served over 3,500 children
that have participated in this project. Due to the
overwhelming response success, we have received additional
assistance from our strategic partners Burger King
Corporation and Target Corporation. |
