Lynn
C. Washington, Esq. – Lynn C. Washington is
full equity partner with the law firm of Holland & Knight
where he specializes in the development and financing of
affordable housing developments and the representation of
tax-exempt organizations in Florida and throughout the United
States. Lynn has been with Holland and Knight since 1994.
Before entering private practice, he worked as an attorney
in the Office of District Counsel for the Internal Revenue
Service and also served as a Special Assistant United States
Attorney for the Middle District of Florida.
Lynn is a graduate of Leadership Miami and Leadership Florida
and was selected by Governor Lawton Chiles to serve on the
Governor’s Study Commission on Property Insurance and
Reinsurance, a commission created to study the impact of Hurricane
Andrew on the insurance industry and the insured customers
of Florida. He was also selected as a member of the Florida
delegation to the Presidents’ Summit for America’s
Future, organized in an effort to meet the challenges facing
our nation’s children and youth, with Former President
Clinton, former Presidents serving as honorary Summit co-chairmen
and General Colin Powell serving as General Chairman.
Lynn
earned his B.S. in 1979 from the University of Florida. He
earned his J.D., cum laude, in 1982 from Gonzaga University
and his LL.M. in Taxation in 1987 from New York University.
He is the author of Minority Set-Aside Program after City
of Richmond v. J.A. Croson & Co., 19 Stetson Law Review
833 (Summer 1990). He is a member of the America Bar Association,
the National Bar Association and the Judge Wilkie Ferguson
Bar Association, formerly the Black Lawyers Association of
Miami-Dade County.
Lynn
is a Florida native. He was born in Gainesville, Florida and
currently resides in Miami with his wife Cynthia. He is the
son of Gus and Gloria Washington, both of which live in Alachua,
Florida. He is the oldest of five children and has two wonderful
nieces and two wonderful nephews that he tries to spend as
much time with as possible.
